Welcome to Eyes to the Skies..

This is an exciting time for us as we introduce you to our brand new project, monitoring the movements of 10 young red kite chicks as they spread their wings and gain independence from their natal territories within the beautiful surroundings of north Scotland.

Over the past week, red kite nests in the area have been visited and 10 chicks have been weighed, measured and fitted with satellite tags.  We are pleased to say that they are all happy and healthy, all look to be in fine fettle and we look forward to introducing them to their adoptive schools properly in the future.  For the moment, the chicks are still confined to their nests but fledging is pretty imminent and should occur over the next couple of weeks.  Stay tuned to follow the first tentative movements of each of the chicks as they venture into the world outside of their nests and begin to explore further afield outside of their parents territories.  This is a time of high adventure for the chicks and you can follow their most recent movements right here as the satellite tags give us unique insights into the progress of these young birds fresh from their nests.  Be sure to visit the site again soon so you don't miss out!
